Who are TranQuill?
TranQuill is comprised of fully qualified Australian solicitors and Registered Migration Agents. Our staff members are dedicated to the highest order of professional ethics and quality service, with a proven success rate, and rigorous ethical standards.
Owen Harris – Director, Principal Lawyer, Principal Registered Migration Agent (MARN 0851294) and Notary Public
Owen wants to live in a world where his trusty side-kick Bronwyn does not nag him and he always has a hot cup of tea, a Diet Coke and a jar of jellybeans within arms reach.
He’s the Principal Solicitor and owner of the firm. Owen is keen to get his PhD as he heard that ‘Doctors’ always get upgraded on flights.
He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Canberra, lecturing for the Juris Doctor program. He teaches budding lawyers how to be ethical (some might say an impossible task), sue people and understand Admin Law.
Owen has represented clients in a range of jurisdictions including the Full Federal Court and Full Magistrates Courts, Federal Circuit Court, Family Court, ACT Magistrates Courts, Administrative Appeals Tribunal (formerly Migration Review Tribunal and Refugee Tribunal) and ACAT.
Owen is definitely the lawyer you want on your side. He is a quiet achiever – tenacious, pragmatic and results driven. He works hard for his clients and never gives up. If you read some of our testimonials you’ll get a true sense of the dedication he has towards his work and clients.
When he is not in the office, or studying or teaching, you’ll find him spending time with a very, very patient and understanding wife Karen (who now that all the children have left home has taken a sudden interest in her iPad and her growing collection of high-performance motorbikes). On the occasions he spends time with his 5 adult children and 3 grandchildren (most of whom have sensibly moved to Melbourne to live), he’ll probably be telling them ‘Dad jokes’.
In his spare time, Owen has no spare time…
Prior to becoming a lawyer Owen had over 25 years experience in the IT industry.
He volunteers his time at the ACT Law Society Legal Advice Bureau. He is a big supporter of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance and Tara Winkler’s Cambodian Children’s Trust (CCT) and spends a lot of his weekends riding his motorbike trailing behind Karen to raise money for Black Dog, the Salvos, Prostate Cancer, Wall to Wall and so on.
Bronwyn Huntley – Registered Migration Agent
Bronwyn Huntley (MARN 1684691) wants to live in a world where she can get Owen to exercise regularly (or at all) and stop sneaking sweets (apparently jellybeans washed down with Diet Coke is not a breakfast). She wants to drive fast cars without having to worry about the maintenance costs.
Bronwyn has been working on migration matters and running the office since February 2014. She loves nothing more that crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s on all paperwork. She is tasked not only with assisting clients and managing the office, but also using her enthusiasm for exercise to power walk with Owen round Lake Burley Griffin regularly and trying to stop him from dropping the F bomb and telling ‘Dad jokes’ in front of clients.
She already has a strong following amongst our client base (the boss is used to hearing “But where’s Bronwyn?”)
In her spare time she loves nothing more than to spend time with her 3 children and power-ranger husband and the occasional hot chocolate with her friends while they complete their latest puzzle.
Alison Monteleone – Lawyer
Alison Monteleone is the newest member of the team. She was in the first cohort to be admitted in the brand spanking new ACT Supreme Court. Very exciting.
Alison studied under Owen at UC and is very detail focused. She is gentle and smart and kind. At the moment we only have her one day a week until she is ready to wean herself off her old career and start at the bottom of the lawyer ladder. We expect her to be an invaluable member of TranQuill in short time.
Our exceptional and skillful support team
Krystal Curley wants to live in a world where husbands finish the building projects they start and children would understand there is a life without wifi. She is our accounts guru – reminding everyone how they should enter charges correctly and gently reminding us when we haven’t!! She spends half her time telling the boss to keep his hands out of the Xero stuff. She has many years’ experience as a legal secretary and receptionist. Like her Dad Owen, she enjoys a good cup of tea. When she isn’t doing the school run, Krystal can be found sorting out their home in the Dandenong mountains.
Krystal is also qualified to be an enrolled nurse.
Minnie Campbell provides administrative support to the Canberra office.
As the mother of 2 young girls who insist upon numerous after-school activities, she is trying to perfect the work-life balance so you’ll find her in our office during school hours (but generally not on Fridays because she makes birthday and wedding cakes for friends and family which apparently takes a LOT of time and effort). On request of the boss, here are just a few of her latest cakes:
How can we help you? If you would like to find out even more about us or to book an appointment, please do call the office between 9am and 5pm (Monday – Friday) on (0) 2 6140 5311 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be happy to book an appointment to suit your schedule.
